Friday, April 10, 2026 - 9:00am to Saturday, April 11, 2026 - 5:00pm

The 2026 Envirolab Graduate Conference is "(Un)Doing Catastrophe." April 10-11, 2026, University of Pennsylvania

EnviroLab’s Graduate Conference is a biennial event that gathers a community of graduate students and faculty working on environmental research projects. This year, the conference theme will be (Un)Doing catastrophe. Understanding catastrophe as both material and epistemic, this conference aims to rethink the concept of catastrophe to find new ways of being and acting in the world's beings, and to untie it from the notions of calculability and prediction that organize "modern" institutions.

The conference has been conceptualized to collectively ask the following questions: How do we rethink 'catastrophe' so as to find new ways of being and acting in the world(s) we inhabit? How can 'catastrophe' be calculability, prediction, and control that organize 'modern' institutions? individuals, social movements, places and histories remade life after catastrophe?

Penn EnviroLab invites those who are interested in these questions and themes to attend!
