On April 14,  David Luis “Suave” Gonzalez, a painter, mixed-media artist, author, cultural activist, and media producer,  is in conversation with Johnny Irizarry as part of the Center for Latin American and Latinx Studies External Speaker (CLALSES) Series.

David Luis Gonzalez was imprisoned as a juvenile and served 31 years of a lifetime sentence without parole, until the Supreme Court ruled this unconstitutional. He is an author, educator, activist, and media producer. In addition, he created a Pulitzer Prize-winning podcast with Maria Hinojosa called "Suave", in which he shared his powerful story. Prof. Johnny Irizarry invites him to his Latinx Cultural History class. Please feel free to join!
