Center for Latin American and Latinx Studies 2026-2027 CLALS Graduate Student Research Grants

The 2026-27 CLALS Graduate Student Research Grants are intended to provide outstanding graduate students in the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) and at the University of Pennsylvania with the opportunity to deepen their disciplinary interests in Latin America and Latinx Studies throughout the academic year.
In general, allowable expenses include, but are not limited to, travel, archival charges, conference registration fees, books and other research supplies. Funding will be up to $1500.
Grantees will have the opportunity to present their findings at a special event of the Center for Latin American and Latinx Studies Internal Speaker (CLALSIS) Series during the 2026-2027 academic year.
The application is open to Penn graduate students. Applicants should be in good standing in their department, and applications from the School of Arts and Sciences will be given priority.To apply, interested applicants should complete this application in its entirety, which includes the submission of a single PDF with the following materials:
1) Research proposal (max 500 words)
2) Itemized budget
4) an unofficial transcript
