¡Felicidades! Parabéns! Congratulations to the Class of 2025!
We would like to thank all of the students that have enriched our lives tremendously. We have been so grateful to learn from you and work with you during your time at Penn.
We would like to share this beautiful and powerful statement by Logan Saenz (’25) about his LALS education at Penn.
“My experience in the LALS department was one of great intimacy: it gave me the power, the confidence, the voice to relate intimately with my own histories as a child of the Latin American diaspora (through close study with others, I came to understand and care for the experiments my people have undertaken to build life amid and despite violence, disaster, sorrow, making me reinvest my own faith in the potentials of culture to keep us on the move, in insurgent relation to the world); it showed me how to forge solidarities with, conceptually & materially, the people — past and present — struggling to make this region, our region, more habitable, more “free.” I leave LALS, then, with profound love: love for the(se) memories of resistance, and love for a sense of future where freedom and dignity have more form, are ours to keep nurturing — meaning, collectively (each with our own forms of care-ful expertise). ***”
