We are thrilled to welcome, Nelson Flores, Professor in Educational Linguistics in the Graduate School of Education, for a talk on his recent book, Becoming the System: A Raciolinguistic Genealogy of Bilingual Education in the Post-Civil Rights Era (2024, Oxford University Press.) In this book, Nelson Flores challenges the dominant historical framework of bilingual education in the U.S. by highlighting how colonial logics have shaped its formation post-Civil Rights.
