Please join us for the Film Screening of I, A Black Woman, Resist, followed by a discussion with Dr. Sharrelle Barber, filmmaker and Director of the Ubuntu Center on Racism, Global Movements, and Population Health Equity at Drexel University and Marilene Felinto, Brazilian author and renowned journalist, including columnist at Folho d. Sao Paulo daily newspaper, and CLALS Distinguished Visiting Scholar.  Moderated by Zita Cristina Nunes, Associate Professor of English. 

I, A Black Woman, Resist is a powerful documentary about Afro-Brazilian leader, LGBTQ activist, politician, and scholar Marielle Franco, who was assassinated by Brazilian authorities on March 14, 2018.  Capturing footage and interviews with Marielle Franco and other activists during a roundtable dialogue of young black women activism on March 13, 2018, this film shares the impact Marielle Franco's life and legacy has had in calling for an end to police brutality, injustice, and racism in Brazil and transnationally.
