Center for Latin American and Latinx Studies "The MPSA Latino/a Caucus leadership unanimously voted to award two Distinguished Scholar awards to Michael Jones-Correa (University of Pennsylvania) and Christine Marie Sierra (University of New Mexico).
Dr. Michael Jones-Correa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Rice University, and earned his PhD from Princeton University. He is currently Presidential Professor as well as Director of the Center for the Study of Ethnicity, Race, and Immigration at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to this position, Jones-Correa also taught at Cornell University and Harvard University.
In his 25-year career, Dr. Jones-Correa has published one sole-authored book, Between Two Nations: The Political Predicament of Latinos in New York (Cornell University Press, 1998); coauthored three additional books; edited one book and two journal special issues; and published 21 peer-reviewed articles as well as numerous book chapters.
Jones-Correa has contributed significantly to data collection on the Latino community, particularly through his work as a Principal Investigator of the Latino National Survey (along with Luis Fraga, John Garcia, Rodney Hero, Valerie Martinez-Ebers, and Gary Segura) and the Latino Immigrant National Election Survey (LINES, with James McCann). He has also created six major datasets.

Dr. Jones-Correa is a Founding Associate Editor of the Journal of Race, Ethnicity, and Politics, and serves on the editorial boards of six other journals. He received the 2012 Adaljiza Sosa-Riddell Award for Exemplary Mentoring of Latino/a Junior Faculty Award and the 2008 Adaljiza Sosa-Riddell Award for the Exemplary Mentoring of Latino/a Graduate Students."
