Goodhand Room at the LGBT Center (3907 Spruce Street)

Additional Information:
The "Expanding Sanctuary" screening is about an immigrant mother who emerges as a community leader during the campaign to end the sharing of the Philadelphia police database with ICE. The film tells a rarely told story about a Latinx immigrant community’s successful journey to change legislation and protect families.
This will be followed by a Q&A with the film director and producer, Kristal Sotomayor, and the protagonist of the film and Juntos activist, Linda Hernandez. We will have a community dialogue that explores themes of advocacy, immigrant rights, and community organizing. Attendees will gain insights into local organizing, civic engagement, and the pathways to meaningful systemic change.
We welcome all to join us in this important conversation!
This is co-sponsored by CLALS, CSERI, Center for Research in Feminist, Queer and Transgender Studies, and Cinema and Media Studies.
