3801 Locust Walk Perry World House Global Policy Lab

In less than two months, millions of people have taken on to the streets of Peru, Chile, Bolivia, and Colombia. Massive mobilizations also took place in Haiti and Venezuela, among other countries, earlier this year. What is going on in Latin America? Is this a regional or a global crisis? Are the high levels of socioeconomic inequality prompting people to streets? Or is it the lack of legitimacy of their governments and the existing political institutions? Is this the end of a political and economic period for the region? Join us for a roundtable discussion with Penn Professors and Latin American scholars to debate in comparative perspective the current events taking place in the region.
